HUGE Fortune Cookie Soap Birthday Haul!

Hey guys! First off, my apologies for not keeping up with the posts, it's been a craaazy few weeks, but here we are again to share my thoughts on the big box of heavenly goodies I received last Tuesday from Fortune Cookie Soap! (HUGE thank you to my mom, who not only purchased the gift card that paid for this, but also paid all the shipping costs!) Let's get right into it..

Blue Cotton Candy - Gorgeous ocean blue with a shimmery sheen, smells EXACTLY like the name. Super sweet, totally addictive scent. (I've actually already used this up!)
Eye of the Tiger - This smells exactly as the description on the website reads, pineapple & candy cane. Heavy on the pineapple. Only thing that threw me off was the website shows a deep "tiger" orange and in person, it was a very pale, almost pastel orange.
Chocolate Dipped Strawberry - I'm not a big chocolate fan, but this is absolutely adorable and I HAD to have it! Not surprisingly, I don't really like the chocolate part, it's a little bitter and artificial but the strawberry smells delicious and I'm looking forward to using it just because of how amazing it looks!
Cabaret - Gorgeous glittery red. A very sultry, sexy scent and a perfect balance of warm vanilla and spicy cinnamon. This one is up there on the list of all-time favourite scents for sure!

Jack Frosty Winter - This smells straight up clean and minty to me, a little on the masculine side because I don`t smell the sweet mintiness like the candy cane scent, but definitely refreshing and the rainbow glitter on gunmetal gray is stunning!
Hubba Hubba - Smells strongly of the original pink bubblegum I used to always chew as a kid, but it`s almost a little bit too strong to the point where if I sniff too long, I get almost a chemical smell. Bonus points for the neat mixture of creamy blue and darker turquoise colours, love it!
Cherry Limeade - I live in Canada and have never been to a Sonic, so I don`t really know what a Cherry Limeade is supposed to smell like.. but this is fruity, tart and refreshing. Heavy on the tangy cherry candy scent, light on the lime and I`ll definitely be stocking up on this for summer.
Sweet Tart Martini - I think I`ve had maybe 17 different scents in the fortune cookie shaped soaps so far and OH. MY. GOD. this is BY FAR my absolute favourite of anything I have ever smelled! It smells to me like sweet, sugary candy, fresh laundry and a little kick of citrus. It`s girly, flirty, sexy and exactly what I dream about smelling like when I get out of the shower. Shannon & Justin, pleeeease make this in Bar Soap! Actually, make it in everything! :)

These Gelato Bath Bombs are fantastic! The Blueberry is strong and sweet, smells just like candied blueberries, and the Hubba Hubba smells exactly like the Hubba Hubba soap I mentioned above. It`s crazy how much they look like a real cup of gelato ice cream, and even come with little plastic spoons! I found them a little hard to break apart, but nothing worth complaining about. They made my whole bathroom (and skin!) smell amazing for hours, were so moisturizing that I didn`t feel the need to slather on body lotion afterwards and each one usually lasts me 3-4 baths.. unless I`m feeling extra luxurious. :)

The In the Loop Bath Bomb is the strongest of all the products I`ve used in this scent. It`s extremely sugary, very delicious and just like the cereal! Moisturized my skin amazingly, just like the Gelato Bath Bombs and if you can`t tell from the picture, IT`S HUGE!  I`d say I can probably get at least 4 uses from it. Love this!

The Sugar Daddy Bath Bomb is a little smaller (maybe 1-2 uses) and smells spicy and musky with a hint of sugary candy. It smells to me more grown up and sexy than the other bath bomb scents I ordered.

Shampoo and Conditioner Bars in `In the Loop` - I`ve never used solid shampoo or conditioner but these have converted me! They smell fantastic and it lingered all day! The shampoo lathers amazingly and rinses squeaky clean. The conditioner threw me off a little at first, I rubbed and rubbed it on my hair and it still hardly felt like anything was on there. I guess I`m too used to that coated, slippery conditioner feel so I was convinced it wouldn`t do anything but as soon as the water starts to rinse it out, BAM! There`s that familiar, silky smooth moisturized feel.

Whipped Cream Body Butter in `In the Loop` - I have horrible ezcema in the colder months. My hands and feet will literally crack and bleed (gross, I know) but this stuff has literally saved my life. It`s thick, smooth like butter, super hydrating and sank in really fast. I haven`t once had to deal with that nasty, tacky feel that some other lotions seem to leave until you wash them off. The scent is very strong and if you love sweet scents, you`ll love it but it can get overpowering quick if you use too much. A little goes a long way!

Cupcake Lip Balm - I didn`t notice any taste to this, but it smells just like vanilla cake frosting and is very moisturizing with a pretty shine. It seems to melt onto my lips really easily, and the oval shape is very neat and fits the shape of lips perfectly. I`ve heard they melt in the tube easy though, so be careful not to leave these anywhere really warm.
Bubbling Bath Crystals in `In the Loop` - I`ve never had bath salts or crystals that created bubbles so I was really pleasantly surprised at how frothy these can get! I could really feel my skin being detoxified and softened, and a dash of this combined with a chunk of the bath bomb in the same scent was extra special!
OCD Hand Sanitizer in `In the Loop` - Okay, so I like this scent a little too much (until they make Sweet Tart Martini everything!), but I`m pretty sure anyone who gets to experience it will also. This has the alcohol smell for about .245 seconds, dries almost instantly and left my hands soft and feeling clean. I found the fruity scent to be a little too strong for a sanitizer. It smells amazing, it`s just really powerful considering how little you need to use each time.

..And lastly (definitely not least) is the Exfoliating Soap Saver! If you buy or use solid soap of any kind, from anywhere, you NEED to have this. Pop in all the little soap pieces that are impossible to handle, or even a full bar/fortune cookie soap, get it nice and wet, and lather away! I didn`t find it harsh or scratchy whatsoever. I plan to combine different leftover soap chunks to see what interestingly scented lather I can come up with. :)

So that`s all for this time. If you stuck through that whole thing, thank you! I know I can ramble on, but I could not love this company more and I could go on forever, seriously. Now head on over and check out the wonderful goodies that await you!

Happy Halloween! / Mini Sephora + Bath & Body Works Haul

So by the time anybody reads this, Halloween will be technically over so here's to hoping it was safe and fun and no one has their candy induced nausea goin' on just yet! Also wanted to share a few Sephora/Bath & Body Works things I grabbed and just my quick first impressions!

Last Halloween my little guy was 6 months old. We did 'The Princess & The Pea'!

Things have been stressful these past few weeks, so we didn't go crazy on costumes. He went as a red and black bug, I went as myself with red & black makeup to match.
We picked up 3472 times the candy shown in the picture & had a blast!

First stop was at Sephora! My birthday is in two weeks and anyone who is signed up with the Beauty Insider program (it's free!) will get an email reminder that you can receive a special free product as a birthday gift from 2 weeks to your birthday until 2 weeks after. No coupon needed, just walk into the store, show your BI card or give your email address and ask for it (no purchase necessary)!

So this years birthday gift is Philosophy 3-in-1 shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath in Vanilla Birthday Cake. (6 fl.oz)
The other I was repurchasing from Sephora was Philosophy Purity Made Simple one-step facial cleanser.

Philosophy 3-in-1 shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath in Vanilla Birthday Cake. (6 fl.oz)

I was really surprised that the birthday freebie was actually a huge bottle! The adorable "happy birthday, beautiful!" on the bottle made me smile but this is only available on the freebie. The normal Philosophy Vanilla Birthday Cake 3-in-1 has the regular graphics.
It smells really nice. Very faint but sweet vanilla scent, not much cake in there. Works okay as a shampoo; not drying, but not moisturizing either. My hair felt clean but no lingering vanilla cake goodness left on my hair at all.
As a bubble bath this stuff is pretty much useless. I poured a few capfuls under running water, and it just sorta 'snaked' at the bottom of the top. Swishing my hands made bubbles but they were totally gone after 3 or 4 minutes.
I really think it should be marketed solely as a shower gel/body wash, as this is the only thing it worked really well for. A small amount on a wet bath puff made tons of lather, cleaned nice and left my skin soft. Still no lingering scent on the skin afterwards though.
All in all, I'll use it and enjoy it in the shower, but definitely won't be repurchasing and I am still very grateful for such a generous freebie! :]

Philosophy Purity Made Simple one-step facial cleanser (3 fl.oz travel size)

This is my all-time best and most favourite facial cleanser EVER!! It has a fresh, almost herbal smell, is very creamy (less lather-y) and takes off heavy duty makeup like nobodies business. You can scrub your eyeballs with this stuff and open your eyes to have a look and no burning or stinging whatsoever. It moisturizes my dry spots, clears up any acne spots and leaves my skin soft, clean and not horribly dry like similar others. This is a definite must-try/must-have!

From Bath & Body Works, first I picked up a full size body lotion in the scent Secret Wonderland & a travel size Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin shower gel.

B&BW Secret Wonderland body lotion (full size 8 fl.oz)

The Secret Wonderland is an amazingly fruity, sweet and yet a little musky scent. Very girly and enchanting. Some say it has similar notes to the Viva la Juicy scent.
The lotion moisturizes amazingly, sinks in quickly and the scent is strong and long lasting enough that you could skip perfume in a hurry and smell delicious alllll day! Love this!

B&BW Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin shower gel (travel size 3 fl.oz)

B&BW Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin shower gel lathers a ton with just a dime size amount on your puff, has a very warm and very sweet fall scent and made my skin nice and soft. Use this with Cram-your-face-in-my-Sweet-Pumpkin-Pie Body Butter from Fortune Cookie Soap and I promise you will have the most amazing, cozy cold weather bathing ritual ever! (Check B&BW for availability though, as I got it on clearance)

And lastly, I grabbed a Triple Moisture body cream in 'Twilight Woods', and an antibacterial hand spray in 'Warm Vanilla Sugar'.

B&BW Triple Moisture body cream in 'Twilight Woods' (8 fl. oz)

This lotion is between the regular body lotion and their body butters. Super moisturizing and takes a little longer to sink in but feels unbelievable! This one has a musky, powdery and very warm scent. Perfect cold weather/warm sensual nights kinda lotion, if you get my drift? ;]

B&BW anti-bacterial hand spray in 'Warm Vanilla Sugar' (1.9 fl.oz)

No words can describe how much I adore this. You get a genorous 1.9 fl.oz, easy to throw in your purse and works amazingly well. I spray 2 pumps in the palm of my hand and rub it all over them. I'm a HUGE vanilla fan and this is that absolutely perfect warm and cozy vanilla I crave. The alcohol scent takes about 2.5 seconds to dissipate, it absorbs into the skin faster than any other gel, foam or spray sanitizer I've ever used and contains aloe and vitamin E to nourishe and soften. People laugh at me because I can use this and proceed to sniff my hands for an hour. Keeping in mind that I have an 18 month toddler running around who catches colds easily, I'll absolutely repurchase this!

So that's all the ramblings for today. Placed an order at Fortune Cookie Soap for over $100 so expect a horrendously long blog post of pictures and first impressions coming soon!

And leave a comment, I'd love to hear how your Halloween adventures went and also what kinda stuff you'd like to see or read? Still getting this thing going so suggestions are appreciated!

Until then

Fortune Cookie Soap addiction continued!

Back again with some more Fortune Cookie Soap goodies to share! Only 3 new soaps to show this time so let's get right into it, shall we? ;)

First up in the box was the 'Not so Little Mermaid' fortune cookie soap..

First Impression -  This soap comes in an ocean-y blue colour, LOADED with rainbow glitter. Gorgeous! The scent to me is musky and yet very clean, with obvious notes of patchouli and amber.
In conclusion - Although the glitter makes this soap itself look pretty girly, it's a very warm and sensual scent that I think could be easily unisex. I have yet to use any of their soaps containing glitter and actually come out of the shower sparkly, so invite your significant other in to share this one. I promise you'll both love it!

Next is.. 'Unicorn Farts' Bar Soap!

First Impression - I already own and have posted about the signature fortune cookie shaped soap in this scent, so this Bar Soap actually threw me off a little. While both glittery, this version is bright pink while the fortune cookie is a pretty bluish-purple. They both have an initial kick of fresh citrus/grapefruit but I found this one to have more of a sweet candy scent. If you read my last post, I was disappointed with 'The Candy Addict' for not having the described 'pink melon and sugar', well that's what this smells like!
In conclusion - I found exactly the type of scent I was craving, in the last place I was expecting to find it! Safe to say there is something for every set of nostrils floating around in their selection.

Lastly.. (and definitely not least) the 'Fall'n Leaves' Bar Soap!

First Impression - I definitely bought this for how adorable it looks and didn't pay much attention to the scent description. It's definitely the strongest of all the soaps I own now and I could smell this before I opened the box. When I sniffed it from outside the bag, it smelled a bit like Vicks Vaporub (hello sinuses!) but was so much nicer after my nose really had the chance to take it in. It's warm, musky and outdoorsy but at the same time has that brisk freshness of a cool autumn morning. Very hard to describe!
In conclusion - I'm slightly partial to girly scents but I'm surprised how much I like this. It's sexy, universal and a bit masculine. Remember how much girls and guys were both so into those unisex Calvin Klein fragrances? This soap has that same appeal to me.  An added bonus? The textured leaves on top make for an amazing massage on the skin!

That's all for now, just a few more treasures I thought you should see! Until next time..

More Fortune Cookie Soap reviews and first impressions!

Hey guys! It's that time again.. There was 2 boxes of soapy goodness waiting outside my door today so I'm back again to give you a look and let you know what I think before I massacre them all in the shower! Enjoy! :]

First up is.. 'Cram your face in my Sweet Pumpkin Cupcake' Bar Soap!

First Impression - My first sniff screamed 'GINGERBREAD!' but after repeated sniffings, I could definitely pick up a very sweet pumpkin pie loaded with whipped cream.
In conclusion - Just like the original Cupcake Bar Soap, this soap is massive and will last you at least a month or more with daily use! The absolute perfect scent for fall/winter. You will love this, your kids will love this and your significant other will want to eat the skin right off of you. ;]

Next up.. 'In the Loop' Bar Soap!

First Impression - Ahhh! This is the most adorable creation on the planet! The attention to detail on this one as well is just phenomenal. It actually looks just like fruit loops with milk drizzled over, this soap made me feel 8 years old all over again (those were the days, huh? ;) The scent is just spot on, it's strong enough to be instantly recognizable to anyone who has ever had the cereal in their lifetime, but not headache-inducingly or overly sweet.
In conclusion - The bar is pretty large and quite heavy, I will probably cut it in thirds to make it easier to use in the shower, and I can't wait to share this with my son!

Lastly I also bought 7 different scents of their signature 'Fortune Cookie' soaps, so to save this post from being reeeeally long, I grouped them together for pictures and will only give brief thoughts on what I think of their scents!

  • Candy Cane - This is my 2nd favourite of all the fortune cookies I chose, it's a very sweet and creamy mint scent, very much like an actual candy cane and totally adorable!
  • Unicorn Farts - Coolest name for a soap, right!? This soap has gorgeous and subtle bluish-pink glitter and is a very lovely floral scent with obvious notes of citrusy grapefruit. Very fun and unique.
  • Kryptonite - I'll admit, I was skeptical when I read that this glows in the dark, but it actually does! And very well at that. I bought this one for my son, it has a very bright and fresh green apple scent. Every little superhero in your life deserves this!
  • Lemon Zing - I bought this one for my Mom, she LOVES citrus/lemon scents but I'm not big on lemon at all so this one doesn't tickle my fancy. She, on the other hand, is pretty darn excited to use it! It's a zesty straight-out-of-the-juicer lemon scent, with a little bit of a clean, soapy fragrance hidden underneath.

  • Vivid - Remember the Hawaiian Punch we used to drink when we were younger? That's exactly what this one smells like. Very tropical and fruity, and the picture doesn't do justice to how girly pink and sparkly it is! This was my favourite of the 7 fortune cookies I ordered!
  • Honeymoon in Paradise - Described as smelling like guava, papaya, pineapple and coconut, I added this one to my shopping bag as soon as I saw the word coconut. After repeated sniffings, I have decided I can't really smell the pineapple, the coconut is there but very light and the papaya and guava are definitely the strong notes. Very tropical and almost a little bit sugary.
  • The Candy Addict - This soap was one of the ones I was most excited to try and it turned out to be the only one that slightly disappointed. The description said pink melon and sugar but my nose says this one smells like straight up roses!  Don't get me wrong, I actually ended up liking it more than I thought considering I'm not a rose scent fan, but it wasn't as sugary sweet as I would have hoped.
So that's all for this haul, I hope you enjoyed checking out what I ordered! I have another order in transit as we speak and I plan to branch out and purchase some bath bombs and other varieties of bath goodies in the next few weeks, so keep checking back! As always, I purchased everything myself and I would never share my opinions if they weren't 100% honest!

DIY: Melted Crayon Art!

So I came across this on Twitter the other day, a few girls I follow were gushing about how easy and adorable this art project is to make and when I saw the picture, I literally died! Thinking to myself how perfect this would be to have hanging in my 17 month olds bedroom, I searched Youtube and found some tutorials. There are a whole bunch of great ones out there already so I'll just explain the basics!

All you need is:
  • A canvas
  • A pack of crayons (Crayola looks the best, I recommend 24 or more)
  • A hot glue gun & some hot glue sticks
  • Newspaper
  • Hair dryer
That's it! Hot glue the crayons to the top with pointy sides down, colours can be arranged however you like. Drape newspaper behind and underneath canvas and prop it against something so as not to make a mess of splattering crayon wax. Turn your hair dryer on high and aim it downwards at the crayons (be patient, it takes a minute to get them melting). If you aim more for the paper and less at the exposed crayon tips, you will get less splatter.

Be creative and have fun with it! That picture is my first try so it really is easy to get the hang of and makes a great statement piece. Enjoy!

Favourite lip colours for fall!

If you're anything like me, it doesn't matter that fall is well under way, you just can't seem to let go of those gorgeous summer pink lip shades and move on to something more cool weather appropriate. Here's where I can help! I chose my top 3 favourite products for the perfect pink pucker that works on anyone, anytime of year. :)

L.A. Colors Moisture Lipstick in Pink-A-Boo is a gorgeous dusty mauve with a hint of shimmer. The formula is very creamy and moisturizing, stayed on for quite a long time and only cost me $2 CAD!

If you’re a no fuss kinda girl, Barry M Glossy Tube in no.4 Matt Pink is the absolute perfect nude lipgloss for any skin tone! Goes on smooth, not sticky at all, smells and tastes like candy and has been voted ‘most wearable’ on the Barry M website. I believe the price is around $7 online, which is well worth owning such a versatile gloss.

Lastly and my definitely my absolute favourite is Tarte LipSurgence in Frisky. It’s a jumbo pencil (Almost exactly the size of NYX jumbo pencils) that twists up and down, so no sharpening needed. It goes on with the feel of a lipstick but has the perfect amount of shine and shimmer, so you don’t need a gloss over. It’s super moisturizing and gives a slightly minty taste and feel to the lips (I believe it contains peppermint oil). This shade looks super bright pink upon first glance but is much more sheer and definitely buildable on the lips, it’s a stunning girly pink and a must have to throw in your purse. Price is steep at around $24, but we all splurge once in a while and I had no regrets on this one!

The swatches shown are the L.A. Colors lipstick at the top, Tarte LipSurgence in the middle and the Barry M Glossy Tube at the bottom. Leave a comment and let me know, what are your favourite lip products this fall?

Very first blog post: A Fortune Cookie Soap review!

So I’ve read a million and a half great blogs in my lifetime, left bazillions of comments and never thought to claim my own little piece of the madness. Well, here we are, and what better way to kick things off than to share my thoughts on my latest (and by FAR greatest) obsession: Fortune Cookie Soap.
Fortune Cookie Soap is a company based in Oklahoma, run by bath and body geniuses, Shannon and Justin Prokop. They specialize in anything and everything that makes your skin and your bath (or shower) totally amazing. This includes everything from bar soaps, bath melts, whipped creams and of course their signature fortune cookie shaped soaps, which are hollow like the real thing and even include a fortune inside each one!
I stumbled across them through a review posted by Leesha (xsparkage on Youtube) and finally brought myself to place my first order a month and a half ago. The two that stood out to me were the Cupcake Bar Soap and the Cinnamon Rolled Bar Soap, so that’s what I started with.

As soon as I took the lid off the container to the Cupcake, I was in awe! It looked exactly like a real cupcake, with creamy white ‘whipped’ soap for the frosting (rainbow sprinkles included!) and solid pink soap for the cupcake base. The smell was amazing, I could tell a difference with the top having a sweet buttercream scent and the base having a soft vanilla sugary scent. It smelled so real, even my 17 month old son has tried to eat it a few times now! It lathered beautifully and was enough to fill my bathroom with sweet, cupcake scented steam and linger on my skin for a few hours after, but not overpowering whatsoever. My advice with this, cut it in half and put one half by your sink and one half beside your shower. As a whole, it’s too big to bring the whole thing in with you when you wash. You definitely get your monies worth! It rinsed clean with that squeaky soap feel, which I love, but was not tight or dry at all afterwards.

Next up is the Cinnamon Rolled Bar Soap. This one came in a bag and was the one I could smell through the box before I even cut the tape. It looks like something out of a Cinnabon display, complete with drizzled soap frosting and topped with real cinnamon. It’s a pretty strong scent but if you like cinnamon, you need this in your life asap! I also felt this was too big to use in the shower as is, so I cut it in half and at first the shape seemed a little awkward to hold but I soon found the angles of the soap to make for a nice massage on my skin as opposed to a soap with a rounded shape. This left my bathroom smelling like a bakery, my skin super soft and even if you decide it’s too pretty to use, leaving it on your counter unused will still give your bathroom a warm, cinnamon scent.
I can’t forget to mention how friendly and wonderful they are! They regularly interact with fans and customers on Facebook and Twitter, hold contests all the time and genuinely care about the feedback you give. I have since placed 4 more orders and can’t wait to try more! They just launched a whole bunch of amazing fall/holiday products so if there is one company to really pamper yourself (and your mom, and your sister, and your best friend etc, etc) with, this is it. I absolutely guarantee you will not be disappointed!
I’m expecting some nice smelling packages at my door in a day or two, so check back for more soapy fall goodness in the coming week. J Thanks for stopping by!
