DIY: Melted Crayon Art!

So I came across this on Twitter the other day, a few girls I follow were gushing about how easy and adorable this art project is to make and when I saw the picture, I literally died! Thinking to myself how perfect this would be to have hanging in my 17 month olds bedroom, I searched Youtube and found some tutorials. There are a whole bunch of great ones out there already so I'll just explain the basics!

All you need is:
  • A canvas
  • A pack of crayons (Crayola looks the best, I recommend 24 or more)
  • A hot glue gun & some hot glue sticks
  • Newspaper
  • Hair dryer
That's it! Hot glue the crayons to the top with pointy sides down, colours can be arranged however you like. Drape newspaper behind and underneath canvas and prop it against something so as not to make a mess of splattering crayon wax. Turn your hair dryer on high and aim it downwards at the crayons (be patient, it takes a minute to get them melting). If you aim more for the paper and less at the exposed crayon tips, you will get less splatter.

Be creative and have fun with it! That picture is my first try so it really is easy to get the hang of and makes a great statement piece. Enjoy!
